 Endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the inside of the body. It involves the use of a long, thin, flexible tube known as an endoscope, which has a small camera and light at its tip. The endoscope is gently inserted into the body through a natural opening, such as the mouth, to obtain clear internal images. Your GP may recommend an endoscopy if you are experiencing certain symptoms that require detailed evaluation. The procedure is usually carried out in a dedicated endoscopy unit within the hospital, ensuring safety and comfort.
